Conversion rate optimisation, or CRO, is the practice of increasing the percentage of your website visitors who take a desired action, such as buying, booking or enquiring. It works by finding where people drop out of a journey, forming a hypothesis about why, then testing a fix. Unlike paid media, it grows revenue from the traffic you already have. There is no single good conversion rate. It depends on your industry, your price point and where your traffic comes from, so the only benchmark that really matters is your own baseline. The more useful question is how much better your site could be doing. When we rebuilt Propper's website the conversion rate doubled in 8 weeks, and Snappr's rose 30%.

Start by finding where people drop off, not by changing the design. Look at your analytics for pages with high traffic and low completion, then watch real users attempt the task. Most conversion problems come down to unclear value, too many steps, or a form asking for more than it needs. Our free UX audit is a good place to start.

UX design is about how a product works: the research, structure and user flows that let someone complete a task. UI design is about how it looks and responds: layout, typography, colour and interactive states. UX decides what screens exist and in what order, UI decides what they look like. It depends on scope, and there are two common models. A scoped project is quoted as a fixed price after a free strategy session, which suits a defined website or app build. An ongoing design team is a flat monthly fee starting at $8,400 + GST, with unlimited design requests and no lock-in contract. Full detail is on our pricing page.

Most of our projects run between 4 and 12 weeks, depending on scope. The Tank Stream Labs rebrand took 4 weeks. Propper's brand, UX research and website redesign took 8 weeks. Maqro's investment platform took 12 weeks. We work in sprints, so you see something reviewable every week rather than waiting months for a reveal.

It probably does if it is not converting, if your team cannot update it without a developer, if it was built more than three or four years ago, or if your business has changed and the site has not. A full redesign is not always the answer though. Often the fix is a handful of targeted changes, which is exactly what a UX audit will tell you.
